Girls Not Brides is an international partnership of organisations working to end child marriage throughout the world. They aim to give a voice to girls at risk of child marriage, to defend their rights to health and education, and to give them the opportunities they need to fulfil their potential.

They also aim to support children who have been victims of child marriage, to increase awareness of the scale and impact of the practice, and to mobilise the support and resources needed to end it.
Child marriage affects millions of children, predominantly girls, every year. Child brides face higher risks of death and injury due to early sexual activity and childbearing, are more likely to suffer domestic violence and sexual abuse, and are less likely to fulfil their potential, as they are usually forced to abandon schooling early.
It is feared that many of the hundreds of ethnic minority children who disappear from UK school registers each year are being taken abroad to be forced into marriage. It is a growing problem due to continuing mass immigration from the Third World, a problem for which a special unit has been established at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
