Muslim medical students refuse to study biology

Human biology is a very important part of medical studies, indeed it is one of the essential subjects:- Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy. Biology is a vast subject containing many subdivisions, topics, and disciplines. Among the most important topics are five unifying principles that can be said to be the fundamental axioms of modern biology:
1. Cells are the basic unit of life
2. New species and inherited traits are the product of evolution
3. Genes are the basic unit of heredity
4. An organism regulates its internal environment to maintain a stable and constant condition
5. Living organisms consume and transform energy
This may all seem very straight forward, this however would not appear to be the case at the University College London, Muslim students are not attending biology lectures because of the reference to evolution.
I do not have any problem with people believing in the creation but what I do have a problem with is the blanket refusal to attend essential lectures on a vital subject because of one small part of the curriculum, this means that these students will have a greatly diminished knowledge base.
This reduced knowledge base will inevitably put any patient that these would be Doctors may have in the future at risk, and are these students now going to ask for exemptions from certain exams because they may refer to evolution. (...)
