Muslim World League Affiliate To Establish Center To Train “Islamic Propagators”
Arab media has reported on plans to establish an “international center to train Islamic propagators” to be established by an affiliate of the Saudi Muslim World League (MWL). According to a report in the Arab News:
An international center to train Islamic propagators will be established shortly in Makkah. The center will be supervised by the Worldwide Association to Introduce Islam (WAI), an affiliate of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL). “The officials working in the center will be given proper training on the basis of the Qur’an and Sunnah,” said Sheikh Ahmed Al-Shamrani, director of the association’s branch in Makkah province. He said the center would also train expatriate workers on how to introduce Islam and teach them the necessary techniques. “We decided to establish this center because of the absence of such a specialized center to train Islamic propagators,” he said. “Saudi Arabia needs such a center because of the presence of a large number of expatriate workers in the country,” he pointed out. “The hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who come from different parts of the world can also make use of the center,” he added. “We want to introduce Islam in the best manner. We have set up a committee of experts to prepare the curriculum and academic programs of the center. We would like to conduct a variety of programs in order to improve the skills of our workers,” he said. Al-Shamrani disclosed his organization’s plan to train qualified people to introduce Islam in different countries, by setting up forums of propagators in each country and cooperating with other organizations. It will also set up a data bank of workers in the field and supply their requirements. WAI is an independent organization under MWL and it supports endeavors to spread the message of Islam in different parts of the world. It is based in Madinah and has branches in Riyadh and Jeddah. It projects the true picture of Islam in Muslim and non-Muslim societies and distributes Islamic books in different languages.
The Muslim World League was established in 1962 as a means for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam. Muslim Brothers played an important role in its founding and, to date, the League has been strongly associated with the Brotherhood
