On killed, churches, shops razed as youths protest in Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno Kano, Kaduna

FEW hours to announce the results of the presidential elections that took place last Saturday all over the 36 states of the federation, there were massive protests in some parts of the Northern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno Kano, Kaduna and Yobe state alleging that the ruling Peoples

Democratic party (PDP) had connived with INEC and other security agencies to rig, manipulate and influence the outcome of the results at the detriment of the Congress for ProgressAive Change and other opposition parties.

In Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, our correspondent reports that, there was a heavy protest by some aggrieved youth believed to be pro-Buhari who was the presidential Candidate of the CPC.

The protest started in Potiskum town at about 10 0clock in the morning perpetrated by youth who barricade major highways leading to Potiskum- Kano and Bauchi roads burning tyres which led to the killing of one person and many people wounded in the process.

It was also gathered that two churches including the First Baptist Church and 6 shops belonging to non indigenes were burnt down to ashes by the angry youths who had besieged all nooks and crannies of Potiskum.

The rampaging youths alleged that Governor of Adamawa, Murtala Nyako, Bauchi, Isa Yuguda, Jigawa, Sule Lamido among other northern governors connived to rig the election against General Buhari.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Commisioner Mr. David Omojola told newsmen that a detached team of Policemen and soldiers have been drafted to douse tension in the area, while he warned anybody found wanting will be severely dealt with.

He therefore calls on the general public not to panic, but to remain calm as security operatives are on top of the situation.

Likewise, in Borno state, there was peaceful demonstration in popular places such as the post office area which is situated in the heart of Maiduguri, the state capital, Gomari Airports, Gwange, Bolori wards within the metropolis.

The demonstration which was spearheaded by youths who are pro-Buhari were also burning tyres around some Junctions but with the quick intervention of the security operatives a.k.a Operation Flush II, there was no one injured and no property was destroyed.

As at the time of filling in this report, the city is calm as people are seeing doing their own businesses without chaos
