The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has announced the selection of Omar Zaki as the organization’s new National Board Chairman. According to the announcement:

It is my pleasure to announce that CAIR has elected Omar Zaki as our new national board chairman. Omar, who is a U.S. Army veteran and a California small business owner, is taking over the position from former State Senator Larry Shaw (NC), who will remain on CAIR’s board.   A Southern California native, Omar has been active with CAIR and the American Muslim community for more than a decade and has served on CAIR’s national board since 2011. He previously served as director of government relations for the Southern California chapter of CAIR. In that capacity, he helped create a multicultural advisory council for the FBI and served as an advisor on it from 2004-2006. He also served as a council member in Los Angeles County Sherriff Lee Baca’s advisory council in support of law enforcement.   Omar also serves on the City of Riverside Human Relations Commission, the board of the International Relations Council of Sister Cites International, and the California Council on Criminal Justice. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Riverside, California.   This is a brief message from Br. Omar as he steps into his new role: “I would like thank Larry Shaw for his dedicated service to CAIR and to the cause of defending the civil rights of all Americans, and I hope I can achieve a record of success similar to his. I am delighted to help lead CAIR in the direction of building partnerships and developing greater awareness and understanding of the American Muslim community, and to help uphold the American values of liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness for all.” Omar’s deep commitment to working with and for the Muslim community and his longstanding service with CAIR make him a natural choice to lead our national board. I look forward to working with him as we continue protecting civil liberties and promoting mutual understanding.

An online bio describes Mr. Zaki’s background as follows:

Omar Zaki has been a resident of Riverside for over two decades. He is currently the President of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), California Political Action Committee and since 9/11, has dedicated himself to educating people about the Muslim community. In 2003, Omar served as Director of Government Relations for CAIR, Southern California Chapter. His work extended into helping create a Multi-Cultural Advisory Council for the FBI where he has served as an adviser since 2004. Omar is also a former soldier and a veteran of the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Redlands in Business Management, and studied at the University of La Verne, College of Law. Omar works as an agent/owner of an Allstate Insurance agency in Riverside.

It is interesting to observe that Mr. Zaki’s appearance, as shown in the online bio and documented above, appears to have changed when compared to the photo in the announcement. Having viewed many hundreds  of photos of Western individuals tied to the Global Muslim Brotherhood, we can best describe Mr. Zaki’s new look as consistent with the appearance of those individuals.

Documents released in the Holy Land Trial have revealed that the founders and current leaders of CAIR were part of the Palestine Committee of the Muslim Brotherhood as well as identifying the organization itself as being part of the US. Brotherhood. A recent post discussed an interview with the Deputy leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in which he confirms a relationship between his organization and CAIR. Investigative research posted on GMBDR had determined that CAIR had it origins in the U.S. Hamas infrastructure and CAIR and it leaders have a long history of defending almost all individuals accused of terrorism by the US. government, frequently calling such prosecutions a “war on Islam.” In 2009, a US federal judge ruled “The Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), and with Hamas.
